TIPS FOR TOURISTS AND BUSINESS TRAVELERS

If you are from London then you know the Tube like the back of your hand. However, if you are a tourist or a business traveler visiting the city for the first time then taking care of the following tips can help.

If you are in a hurry and want to reach your destination without wasting too much time in commutation then we recommend that you avoid the super busy hours. By that we mean the rush hours at the Tube that last from 7 am to 9 am and 5:30 pm to 7 pm during the weekdays.

This is the time when most of the office goers board the train hence the compartments are jam packed and the stations are also very crowded. So, if at all possible just keep away from these timings to enjoy a relaxed ride to your destination.

Please remember that all trains look similar so there is a high chance of boarding the wrong train by mistake. To avoid such confusions, always check the front end of the train to ensure it takes you to the correct destination. When you are using escalators in the Tube, always stand on the right side.

When you are in the station, always keep some space for the passengers to get down the train safely and leave, before you board it. Look for the yellow line on the platform and always stand behind that line.

Good manners and etiquettes go a long way to make the world a better place, so don’t forget them even when you are traveling. If there are senior citizens, women with small kids or pregnant women, then get up and offer your seat to them.

When you are standing inside the train, always hold on to the rails firmly so that you do not fall. And when there are too many people standing, always maintain a respectful distance.

You can download the Tube map to get an idea of the various station locations and how you can access them quickly. Please remember that cash is the most costly way to pay for transport, so consider getting an Oyster card, Visitor Oyster card or Travelcard. Paying through contactless payment card is a cheap way to get good value for money.
